Pacific Islanders remain among the most underserved and underrepresented communities in California's education, workforce, and civic systems — yet are too often rendered invisible in the data and policies that shape opportunity.

What We Do

Three fronts. One mission.

Lasting change requires both better evidence and more power behind the decisions that affect our communities. Research makes the case. The coalition informs shared priorities. Advocacy carries it forward.

Research and data analysis 01

Evidence-Based Research

What isn't counted doesn't get changed. We produce disaggregated, community-grounded research that separates the data, names the disparities, and gives advocates the evidence they need to act.

  • Disaggregated education and economic data
  • Outcomes across TK–12 and postsecondary
  • Accessible briefs, fact sheets, and tools

Coalition-Building

No single organization can shift systems alone. PIP organizes across schools, universities, service providers, and community leaders — turning shared values into collective power through talanoa.

  • Statewide network with a shared agenda
  • Amplifying campaigns together
  • Culturally grounded relationship-building

Advocacy and civic engagement 03

Policy Advocacy

Good evidence only matters if it reaches the people who set budgets and write policy. PIP brings Pacific Islander voices to the tables where decisions are made.

  • Equipping community members to speak up
  • Mobilizing coalition partners
  • Grounded in evidence and community voice

About PIP

A statewide coalition working to change that.

Pacific Islanders for Progress is a statewide grassroots advocacy coalition that brings together community leaders, educators, researchers, and advocates to advance accountability, strengthen public education systems, and ensure Pacific Islander communities are fully supported to pursue postsecondary education and pathways that lead to their flourishing.

We address systemic inequities through strategic collaboration with community leaders, universities, and partners — leveraging research to maximize collective impact for Samoan, Tongan, Fijian, Chamorro, Marshallese, Chuukese, Hawaiian, and other Oceanian communities in California.
